History of Gambling Games

History of the Most Popular Gambling Games in Medieval Times

In the past, the world had a booming economy and the wealthy people who were involved in their markets, needed some form of entertainment to forget the worries of everyday life. People were fond of gambling, they loved it, and they always tried to make the most out of it. Unfortunately, they weren’t always the most honest people when it came to gambling, as we see when we look at what happened to the famous Leonidas of Epirus, the one who was ordered to kill 300,000 Persians after a decade of war that he won against them.

Gambling is an illegal and cursive activity. We can see this in England, as gambling was usually punished heavily for both legal and illegal gambling. You might have heard of the criminal called Anne Boleyn, she was accused of gambling and she had to go through this hard time to learn from her mistakes. Gambling is a curse for society , but for some people, it was a way of making a living and making them happy.

If I was a rich aristocrat in the Middle Ages, what type of games would I enjoy to play, if I was out of work? Would I think about riding in carriages and wearing beautiful clothes? Would I think about the empire I have? Probably not. In fact, I would probably just try my luck and play any type of games that I thought of playing.
